Gordon Vadakin Obituary

Gordon Forrest Vadakin, 80, of Huntington Mills, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013.

Born Aug. 10, 1932 in West Park, N.Y, he was the son of the late Forrest and Ethel (Ostrander) Vadakin.

He was a 1950 graduate of North Bennington Vermont High School, where he played on the basketball, football and baseball team, and starred in the school play. He served on the U.S.S. Parle during the Korean War and received a medal for good conduct and a national defense service ribbon. He worked for Pressure Products in Hatboro, Pa., from 1955 to 1980, and for Fluitron in Warminster, from 1980 to 1995, retiring in 1996. He lived in Bucks County until his retirement and then moved to Huntington Mills.

He attended Town Hill United Methodist Church, where for a time he sang in the choir. He was an competitive bowler, loved to golf (although he was never very good), and was a great cook (we loved your split-pea soup, Dad). In his later years, he became a puzzle enthusiast and an avid reader.

Surviving are his wife, formerly Joyce C. Trindle, whom he married Feb. 26, 1955; sons, Gary Vadakin and his life partner, Michael Pawlikowski, Bloomsburg, and Ronald Vadakin and his wife, Sharon, Levittown; daughters, Nancy Osborne and her husband, Steve, Perkasie, Pa., and Gretchen Black and her husband Stevie, Huntington Mills; 10 grandchildren, April Mormando and her husband, Glenn; Jamie Black and her fiancé, Adam Dawson; Jason Osborne; Kendra Vadakin and her fiancé, Ray Pizza; Amber Black Nevin and her husband, Daniel; Gina Osborne; Trevor Vadakin and his wife, Stephanie; Mandy Black; Nikki Black and Saige Vadakin; and three great- grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Town Hill United Methodist Church, 417 Town Hill Road, Shickshinny, with the Rev. Bethany Wood officiating.
