Joseph Arena, of Pittston Township, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was the husband of Charlene Serpe Arena. Born Nov. 16, 1942, in Pittston, he was a son of the late Anthony and Helen Cituk Arena.
He was a graduate of Pittston Township High School, class of 1960. He was a member of the Italian Citizens Club, Oak Street, Browntown, where he was past president. Before his retirement he worked for the Local 215 Laborers Union. Joseph also was an avid hunter and sportsman.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his daughters, Nicole and husband Michael Lazowski Jr., Avoca, and Cary and husband Dave Walsh, Pittston Township; granddaughter, Serena Walsh; grandson, Ethan Lazowski; brother, Daniel, and wife Vicki Arena, Pittston Township; sister, Mary, and husband Frank Glomb, Avoca; uncle, Michael, and wife Lois Cituk; mother-in-law, Josephine Dubinski; three nephews; one great-nephew; two great-nieces and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township. Viewing hours will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Joseph Marello Parish (Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church), Pittston, at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Interment services will take place in St. Rocco's Cemetery, Pittston Township.
