MOUNTAIN TOP — Frank P. Simone, 83, of Mountain Top, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on July 30, 1930, in Mocanaqua, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Racioppa) Simone. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 until May of 1949 and in the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the Korean War. Frank was honorably discharged in 1953.
In 1954, he married his wife, the late Ruby (Kulp) Simone, in St. Mary's Church, Mocanaqua, and they shared a life together for 53 years.
Living in Pennsylvania all his life, he attended Penn State University, receiving a degree in mechanical engineering, and Millersville University, receiving a degree in education.
He worked at Sanders and Thomas Corp., Pottstown, Foster Wheeler, Wilkes-Barre, and finished his career at the Greater Nanticoke Area School District as an industrial arts teacher. Frank also coached several sports before retiring in 1992.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents and wife, Ruby, were brothers, Louis, Ralph and Matthew "William" Simone; sisters, Elizabeth Zimolzak, Mary Wilczynski and Angela Pizzirusso.
Surviving are his daughter, Debra and her fiance, Ron DeBalko, Mountain Top; granddaughter, Heather and her husband, Peter Corby, Mountain Top; brothers, Father Michael, Mary Knoll, New York, and Joseph, Nanticoke; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no viewing or service. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
McCune Funeral Service Inc. is handling the arrangements.

Mr Simone was my shop teacher way back in 1990-1991. I remember all of the projects we made in class. Was a sweet man and will remember him fondly. Rest in peace.
