Korus, John T. - Kingston  
KINGSTON — John T. Korus, 83, of Kingston, died April 18, 2016, at River Run Nursing Home, where he had been a guest for the last five years. He was born in Nanticoke and is survived by his wife, the former Robert J. Tierney. A private memorial for family will be held at a later date.

Krznaric, Ann* - Annandale  
ANNANDALE, Va. — Ann Krznaric, 91, formerly of Kingston, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 28, 2016, at home in Annandale, with her daughters by her side. Born Sept. 9, 1924, in Luzerne, Ann was the daughter of the late Mary and Frank Guchanas. She attended Sacred Heart School and Luzerne High School, before marrying the love of her life, the late Paul Krznaric. They resided on Price Street in Kingston for 48 years before moving to Northern Virginia to be near their children. Ann spent most of her adult life working as a waitress at Gus Genetti's Hotel and Tony Perugino's, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and of the former Sacred Heart Church, both in Luzerne. Ann will be remembered for many things but most especially for her faith in God, her heart of gold and her loving devotion to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband for 66 years, Paul; her sister, Mary Witt; her brother, Frank Guchanas; her son-in-law, Richard McSpadden; her grandson, Franklin McSpadden. She is survived by her three children, Paul (Jeanne), Fort Meyers, Florida, Anne Marie Kearney (Ed), McLean, Virginia, Toni McSpadden, Annandale; seven grandchildren, Kelly and Eric Krznaric, Brian, Carolyn (Stone) and Brendan Kearney, Janie (Rutherford) and Thomas McSpadden; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lillian Thomas, Kingston; and Olivia Parker and Andrea DeVito, who helped care for her the past few years. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett St., Luzerne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in Holy Family Church. Father Kevin Nadolski, OSFS, a dear friend of the family, will be celebrating. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle. Kennedy, Candace M.* - Laflin  
LAFLIN — Candace M. Kennedy, 61 of Laflin, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at her home, after a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Jean (Evans) Burke. Candy was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, class of 1972, and was employed in sales by various corporations during her career. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church in Laflin. She and her husband, William, celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, the day of her passing. In addition to her parents Charles and Mary Jean, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Burke, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Betty Kennedy. Surviving, in addition to her husband, William, are her son, William Kennedy and his wife, Suzanne, of Laflin; daughter, Christine Piccotti and her husband, David, of Pittston; grandchildren, Landen Kennedy and Nathan Piccotti; sisters, Suzanne Horvath and her husband, Michael, of Wilkes-Barre, and Amy Miller and her husband, James, of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in law, Candice Miscavage and her husband, Mark, of Wilkes-Barre, and nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass for Candy will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, with the Rev. James J. Walsh, pastor, officiating. The Parish Rosary Group will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and rosary in the church 30 minutes before the Mass. All are invited to attend. WILMINGTON, DEL. — Joseph "Casey" Kasakavicz, 89, of Wilmington, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Joe was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. After the war he became a pilot with Diamond Flight Center in Wilmington. He worked for 32 years at General Motors as a truck driver. He enjoyed to travel and traveled extensively around the world. Casey is survived by his sisters, Ruth E. Coveleski, of Union City, Helen Kosar, of Wilkes-Barre, Jean DeWees, of Dallas, Benie Moskal, of Wichita, Kansas, and Lilli Sacco, of Dallas; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a great-great niece and great-great nephew. Mass of Christian Burial will be held noon Thursday, April 28, 2016, in St. Hedwig Church, Linden and South Harrison Streets, Wilmington. The family will greet friends starting at 11:30 a.m. in church. Burial will follow 1 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, in St. Mary Cemetery, Hanover Township. Kasper, Janice Bonick* - Miners Mills  
MINERS MILL — Janice Bonick Kasper, "Lil Jan Jan," 63, of Miners Mills, passed away peacefully Friday, April 22, 2016, at home. Janice was born Oct. 31, 1952, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late John Bonick and Catherine (Rowles) Bonick. Janice enjoyed a long career as a shift manager at McDonald's, Route 309 and Route 315, until her retirement early this year. Janice was a wonderful wife and mother to her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, decorating her home, shopping and cooking for her entire family. Janice enjoyed viewing social media and crossword puzzles. She was well loved and had the ability to light up any room with her generosity and kindness. She was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine "Sandy" Greco, Hazleton; brothers, Thomas Schwartz Sr., Ashley, Frank Schwartz, Ashley; and her beloved dog, Rocky. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Leonard Kasper, with whom she just celebrated 44 years of marriage on Nov. 6; her children, Leonard Kasper Jr., Katie Kasper, Ashley Kasper and boyfriend Chris Walsh, Jonathan Kasper and girlfriend Katie Trinian, and Lori Shovlin and husband Scott Shovlin; grandchildren, Mahdisty Floyd and Addison Shovlin. Janice is also survived by her sister and best friend, Beverly Winter and husband Edward Winter; twin brother, Joseph Bonick and wife Susan Bonick, Plains Township; brothers, Paul Bonick and John Bonick, Wilkes-Barre Township, David Schwartz and wife Theresa Schwartz, Wilkes-Barre Township, Charles Schwartz and wife Glenda Schwartz, Oakland, California; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at George A. Strish Inc., 105 N. Main St., Ashley. Interment will be privately held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janice's name may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
