Nealon Sr., Joseph M. "Jed"* - Hanover Township  
HANOVER TWP. — Joseph M. "Jed" Nealon Sr., 79, of Hanover Township, formerly of Ashley, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ashley on March 15, 1937, he was the youngest of eight children of the late Patrick Sr. and Kathleen (Bradshaw) Nealon. He was a graduate of St. Leo's High School, Ashley, and he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an iron worker for the local union, who built the Salem Township Nuclear Power Plant, until his retirement. He was a member of St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, and he was a founding member of the St. Leo's Biddy Basketball League and the Ashley Girls Softball League. He was a 30-year member of the Ashley Fire Dept.; a Sergeant-At-Arms for the PA State Fireman's Association; a member of the Six County Fireman's Association. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years the former, Judy (Wilkie) Nealon; brothers, Patrick Jr., Robert, John and Donald; sisters, Nancy and Mary Alice. Surviving are sons, Joseph Jr. (Karen), James (Debbie), Jeffrey (Donna); daughters, Jean Michelle (Brian), Joyce (Jay), Justine (Rick); grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Danielle, Kyle, Amber, Lauren, Amanda, Patrick, Rebecca, Nicole, Brenda, Ray and Hailey; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Colleen; numerous, sisters and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Shirley. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. in St. Leo/Holy Rosary Church, with Rev. Vincent Dang officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday. The family would like to thank and commend the staff at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, that were involved in his care, during his recent stay. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe's memory to the family to help to defray his medical expenses. Joe was well known throughout the region for his baritone voice and for doing things his way.

Novak Jr., John* - Wyoming  
WYOMING — John Novak Jr., 75, of Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Yaglowski) Novak. He was a graduate of Larksville High School. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Interstate Aluminum and Sears Logistics of Wilkes-Barre. He belonged to several area lodges and he was an avid hunter, fisherman and stamp collector. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, the former Geraldine Ferretti. He is survived by sister, Joan Marlowe, Pringle; nephews, Ronald and David Marlowe, Pringle. There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., Luzerne.
