SHICKSHINNY — John Robert Taylor, 69 of Hunlock Harveyville Road, Shickshinny, passed away of natural causes at his home on Feb. 26, 2015. A memorial service for John will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in the McKendree United Methodist Church, McKendree Road, Shickshinny. Arrangements by the Charles L. Thoma, Jean Miles* - Potsville  
POTTSVILLE — Jean Miles Thoma, 96, of Pottsville, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, in Orwigsburg. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Louise (Bowman) Miles. She was the loving and devoted wife of Carl Thoma. Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, she was a graduate of Meyers High School, Wyoming Seminary and Wilkes-Barre Business School. She held several secretarial positions including civil service, Hecth's and the United Way of Lehigh Valley. She married her loving husband, Carl, in 1945 after his return from African and European services in World War II. She and her husband retired from Lehigh Valley to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 1978 and returned to Pennsylvania in 2004. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sharon Thoma; and brother, George W. Miles. She is surivived by Carl, her loving husband of 69 years; son, Mark Thoma and his wife, Ruthann, Jamestown, North Carolina; daughter, Karen, wife of Joseph Haggerty Jr., Auburn; four grandchildren, Brian Thoma, High Point, North Carolina, Kevin Thoma, Greensboro, North Carolina, Joseph Haggerty III, Philadelphia, and Olivia Kratzer, Allentown; eight great-grandchildren; and grand-dog, Hank. She will be deeply missed by her loving family. Service and interment will be privately held at the family's convenience. Timonte, Anthony "Tony/TNT"* - Pittston Township  
PITTSTON TWP. — Anthony "Tony/TNT" Timonte, 102, of Pittston Township, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, just short of his 103rd birthday. He was born in Pittston Township on April 1, 1912, and was a lifetime resident of the township. He was a son of the late Valentino and Maddalena (Terrana) Timonte. He attended Pittston City schools and was a lifetime member of St. Rocco Church, now St. Joseph Marello Parish. During the war, he worked at the naval yards in Philadelphia. He with his father and brothers were vendors of grapes for winemaking and distributed grapes throughout the valley, having made many trips, to California, to select the grapes, which they bought from the Mondavi Family Vineyards. He was employed at the Murray Corp., Scranton, for many years, retiring in 1977. Tony enjoyed hunting for small game and deer, but his greatest past-time was bowling. He was in avid and skilled bowler and was inducted into the PA Bowling Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Morganti), whom he cared for for many years; also preceding him in death are his sister, Angeline; brothers, George, John, Joseph, Sam and Charles Timonte; sisters-in-law, Jo, Mary Ann, Josephine and Marlene Timonte. Surviving are children, Valentino and his wife, Rita Timonte, Madeline and her husband, Jack Marino, Carmen and his wife, Susan Timonte; grandchildren, John Marino, Valentino Timonte Jr. and his wife, Debbie, Kimberly Marino, Gregory Timonte and his wife, Terry; great-grandchildren, Antonia, Valentino III, Justin, Donnie, Pamela, Ben, Christy and Shane; great-great-grandchildren, Xaviar and Lovea; sister, Lucy Pace and her husband, Gerald; brother, Angelo; sisters-in-law, Tina Timonte and Irene Timonte; also surviving are many nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township. Viewing hours were held Feb. 26 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 27 from St. Joseph Morello Parish, William Street, Pittston. Tony will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
