BUCK TWP. — Mr. Andrew J. Searfoss Jr., of Buck Township, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born Sept. 21, 1927, in Laurel Run, he was a son of the late Andrew J. and Mamie Glasson Searfoss.
Andrew attended Laurel Run School and was employed at Liquid Carbonic, Laurel Run, for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ambrose; grandson, Steven Searfoss; brothers Jim, William, Richard and Gerald; sisters H. Jane Waskiewicz, Mamie Dominick Chopack, Elizabeth Kolis and Bessie Zendzion; and daughter-in-law, Lorraine Searfoss.
Surviving are sons, Andrew Searfoss, Blakeslee, and Dale and his wife, Roberta (Judy), Buck Township; daughters, Marie Denise Searfoss, with whom he resided, Buck Township; Darlene Searfoss, Buck Township, and Mary Filippini and her husband, Al, Plains Township; grandchildren, Rose Searfoss, Buck Township, Lonnie Maywald and Sue Mudlock-Maywald and great-granddaughter, Samantha Maywald, all of Bear Creek, Pennsylvania; Hannah and Robert Sharp and dad, Jon, Plains Township, and Dena Davis, Saylorsburg; brother Arthur Searfoss, Buck Township; sister Joan Searfoss, Bear Creek; best buddy, HeyCatt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the following individuals for the care our father received: the staff of Little Flower Manor, the staff of the Veteran Affairs Medical Center and the staff of the Veterans Affairs Hospice Unit.
As per Andrew's request, funeral services will be private and there will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre.
