WILKES-BARRE — Anna M. Balutis, 98, formerly of Solomon Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre.
She was born in Scranton on Aug. 2, 1915, a daughter of the late George Visniauckas and Mary Visniauckas Zokas. Anna was formerly employed as a sales clerk at Boscov's Department Store in Wilkes-Barre.
Anna was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and its Christian Mother's Society prior to its closing. Anna was also a volunteer for more than 20 years with the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Balutis, in 1982; and by her grandson, David M. Chisarick. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor and Mary Visniauckas, Nellie McGlynn, Ida Cullis and Isabel Bjanes.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Joan Chisarick, and her husband, Joseph, Swoyersville; grandchildren, Daniel Chisarick and his wife, Joanna; Jennifer Jones and her husband, Mike; great-grandson, Alexander Jones; brother, Joseph Vincent, and his wife, Joan, Clarks Summit; and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek. A private viewing will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anna's memory to the American Red Cross, 256 N. Sherman St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
