Arthur R. Eckhart, Kingston, passed away Dec. 14, 2012, at Hospice Community Care, Wilkes-Barre.
He was the son of the late Clarence B. and Helen Eckhart.
Born and raised in Forty Fort, he graduated from Forty Fort High School and attended Wilkes College. Art served in the U.S. Army and he worked in the computer field all of his life and retired at age 70 from Nestle.
He especially loved spending time with his family and playing golf and his yearly trip to Myrtle Beach with his golfing buddies. He loved camping with his family and good friends.
He will be very sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn (Groff) Eckhart; son Jeff, Jessup; son Glen and wife Cindy, Nanticoke, and two beautiful grandchildren he loved dearly, Emily and Adam Eckhart. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Eckhart, wife Joann; niece Tammy Jo Burke and husband Bill; niece Paula Harris and husband Mike; brother, Les Eckhart; niece Kimberly Eckhart; nephew Les Eckhart Jr. and cousins and many other family members. He will be sadly missed by his pets, Bailey and Belle.
Art was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston, and the Irem Shrine and an active member of the Motor Corps Unit and Waverly Lodge 301.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at Church of Christ Uniting, Market Street and Sprague Avenue, Kingston, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Carol Ann Fleming, officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Art's memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Luzerne County SPCA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
