Bernard E. Adamczyk, 79, of Nanticoke, passed away Wednesday in the Golden Living Center East Mountain.
Born Aug. 25, 1934, in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Edward and Eleanor Grabowski Adamczyk.
He was a graduate of Marymount High School, Wilkes-Barre, and King's College, Wilkes Barre.
Bernie was in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was employed at the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare for 25 years and also worked at Kuskiewicz's Meat Market and Clyde's Meat Market for many years. He was a member of St. Faustina Parish, Nanticoke, and the Holy Name Society.
Bernie enjoyed attending and watching Penn State games and family vacations to Myrtle Beach. He also enjoyed his best buddy, Snowy, and going to all his grandchildren's sporting events.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Angie Yokavonis.
Surviving are his wife, the former Sylvia Slucki, with whom he recently celebrated their 54th anniversary on Aug. 1, 2013; daughter, Susan, and husband Christopher Grimes; son, Bernie, and wife Theresa; grandchildren, Nicholas and wife Sharon, Kyle, Jeffrey and Shannon Grimes; Eric Adamczyk; great-grandchildren, Emma, Mason and Mercedes Grimes; sisters Gloria Schinski; Patricia and husband Gerry Meck; and brother-in-law, Frank Slucki.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home Inc., 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Parish at the Holy Trinity site with the Rev. James Nash as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
