HOMETOWN — Carol Ann Opet, 74, of Hometown, formerly of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital- Cedar Crest, Allentown, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 12, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Ann E. Skatuler Zavaskas.
Carol Ann was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved to spend time with her family, including her love of preparing many family dinners for all to share in.
She was a member of St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, and was employed by Rush Township as a secretary and treasurer.
Carol Ann was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Surviving are her loving husband of 53 years, Stephen L. Opet; daughter, Karen Opet Flaherty; sons, Stephen and Charles Opet; six grandchildren, Taylor, Keaton, Ashleigh, Stephen, William and Kollin; sister, Rita Woods and her husband, Phillip; nieces, Anita, Donna and Pamela, and nephew, Phillip, and their families.
Family and friends are invited to attend Carol Ann's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. There are no public calling hours.
Arrangements are by the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.
