Catherine E. Krieg, 91, of B'nai B'rith Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Hutson Street, Wilkes-Barre, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at her residence.
Born Sept. 29, 1921 in Minooka, she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah McDonnell Parfitt.
Catherine graduated from Minooka High School. Before retiring, she was employed in the Dietetic Department of Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She had also been employed at Mitchell Field, New York, during World War II. Here, she met her husband, the late Francis H. Krieg, a retired Wilkes-Barre police officer.
Catherine had a zest for life, loved her family and enjoyed reading and chatting with her friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two infant sons; sisters, Mary and Ann; brother, James; daughter, Mary Ann Milz; and granddaughter, Sheri Milz.
Catherine is survived by her son Frank, Glen Lyon; son-in-law, James Milz, Ashley; granddaughter, Janet Hoover, and her husband, David, Allen, Texas; grandson, Steven Milz, and his wife, Peggy, Niceville, Fla.; great-granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah Hoover and Julia Milz; and great-grandson, Jacob Milz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
