Clarence Sorber

Clarence Sorber, 77, of Shavertown, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Lehman Township, he was the son of the late Clarence E and Emily Gunton Sorber. He attended Kingston High School and was a proud member of the Pennsylvania National Guard for 34 years. Clarence was a member of St Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Wilkes-Barre.

He was formerly employed as a technician for Glen Carbonic.

A man of simple means but rich in great humility and kindness, patience and heroic suffering. He was beloved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Kerpovich; grandson, Nicolas Constantin; brothers, Bob, Willard, Edward; sister, Audrey.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Irene "Ethel" Seman Sorber; sons, Ronald and wife, Rita, Loganville, Ga.; Greg and wife, Kim, Harveys Lake; Christopher and wife, Terri, Staunton, Va.; daughters, Susan Constantin and husband, Pierre, Ferndale, Wash.; Lori Panzetta and husband, Mike, Dallas; sisters, Judy Hodakowski and husband, Bill, Dallas, Dorothy Rineheimer, Fairless Hills; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains, with office of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre. Relatives and friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. Parastas at 4 p.m. with the Rev. James Hayer officiating. Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.
