Dorothy Balla Bray, 81, of Kosciuszko Street, Nanticoke, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at her home.
Born on Feb. 8, 1931, in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late John and Emma Kanyuck Balla. She graduated from Nanticoke High School, Class of 1948, and resided in Nanticoke most of her life. On Aug. 27, 1949, she married William Franklin Bray. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2012, after 62 years of marriage. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Bray was employed at Sanitary Bakery, Nanticoke, for many years. She was a member of Nebo Baptist Church, Nanticoke, and the former Bethel Congregational United Church of Christ until its merger with Nebo Church. She was a 50-year member of Nanticoke Chapter #174, Order of Eastern Star and was a Past Worthy Matron.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dorothy's main interest in life was caring for her home and family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Kelly.
Surviving are four children, Linda Walters and her husband Dan, Union Hall, Va., Bonnie Floryshak, Berwick, Nancy Turner and her husband, Richard, Stillwater, William Percy Bray and his wife, Maria, Fairfax, Va.; son-in-law, Michael Floryshak; grandchildren, Kelly Henshaw and her husband, Brian, Joshua Walters, Megan Garrod and her husband, Arron, Nathan Floryshak and his wife, Karen, Aaron Floryshak, Noah Floryshak, Evan and Lauren Bray; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Luke and Samuel Henshaw, Brianna and Reed Floryshak, Charlotte Rose Garrod; sisters, Dr. Isabel Westfried, Newtown Square, Pa., Joan Anderson and her husband, Andy, Waynesboro, Va., Margaret Quijano, California; a brother, John Balla, Queens, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Alles Bray, Nanticoke; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, with Pastor Timothy G. Hall officiating. Interment will be in Nanticoke Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Officers and members of Nanticoke Chapter #174, Order of Eastern Star, will conduct a memorial service Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
