Edward A. Uranowski Jr.

Edward A. Uranowski Jr., 56, of Drums, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Hospice Community.

Eddie won his fight against pancreatic cancer by not allowing the disease to break his spirit and by living the last year of his life with great strength and courage. Every extra minute was a blessing to him and his loving wife and family.

Eddie loved the peace and solitude of nature. He enjoyed fishing with his best friend Lenny "Lucky" Letukas on the Susquehanna and Lehigh rivers and golfing with the Back Mountain Golf League at Sand Springs Golf Course, Drums. Eddie was courageous, hardworking and loving. The world is forever diminished by the loss of him.

Born in Hanover Township, he was a graduate of Hanover Memorial High School and a member of Saint Jude's Church, Mountain Top. Edward was employed by Phoenix Truck Bodies/American's Body Co. as a welder for 23 years. He was most recently employed by Valmont Industries of Hazleton.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Neil L. Bellanca, Kingston Township; and brothers-in-law, John Bressler, Taylor, and John Brody, Mountain Top.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Diane Joivell-Uranowski; his parents, Edward A. and Lillian R. (Narsavage) Uranowski; brother, Richard, Hanover Township; sisters, Christine, Tampa, Fla., Ruth Brody, Mountain Top, and Dr. Mary Ann Uranowski, Tampa; nieces, Kristin and Jessica Joivell; Valerie and husband, Michael; Lindsay, and Alex and Abby Morris; and great-niece, Abagail Pye-Joivell.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top. Interment will follow in Albert Cemetery. Friends may call at McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top on Monday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
