Elda Mae Weidow

HUNLOCK CREEK — Elda Mae Weidow, 85, formerly of Hunlock Creek, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1929, in Hunlock Creek, a daughter of the late Jay Carlton and Sara Rittenhouse Croop. Elda had resided in Hanover Township and Nanticoke for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Weidow; grandchildren, Bernie and Billie Jo; and a sister, Joyce Croop.

Surviving are daughters, Sally Zeske, Plains Township; Monica Toluba and her husband, Fred, Hanover Township; Debra Rinehamer and her husband, William, Nanticoke, and Tracey Weidow and her fiance, John Butz, Hanover Township; a son, Stuart Weidow Jr., Nanticoke; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday from the Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, with the Rev. Terry Hughes, pastor of Hunlock Creek United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek. Friends may call 9 a.m. to services on Wednesday.
