ASHLEY — Evelyn T. Curry, 98, formerly of Ashley, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services, Camp Hill. She had been residing with her son, Joseph Curry, and his family since November 2002.
Born in Ashley, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Evelyn (Giza) Gatusky. She was a graduate of Ashley High School and retired from Sunray Drug Store to become a homemaker.
Evelyn was an active member of St. Leo/Holy Rosary Church. She was also active in the Altar and Rosary Society, the Rosary Group, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Cenacle and a member of St. Gabriel's Retreat Group.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Joseph B. Curry, in 1981; and brothers and sisters, Joseph, Dr. Charles, Frank, John, Sister Richard Marie and Sister Richard, both of the Bernadine Order in Reading; Nell Olshefski, Philomena and Anna Benavage.
Surviving are her son Joseph and his wife, Anna Marie, and two grandchildren, Joseph and Stephanie, all of Camp Hill; son Bryan and his wife, Carol Ann, Marlton, N.J. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the George Strish Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Leo/Holy Rosary Church, Manhattan Street, Ashley, with the Rev. Richard J. Cirba officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
