FREEHOLD TWP., N.J. — Frederick D. Scott, 84, of Freehold Township, N.J., passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, N.J.
Frederick "Scotty" was born in Urbana, Ill., and had lived in Philadelphia, Wilkes Barre, Kearny, N.J., East Brunswick, N.J., and Champaign, Ill., before moving to Freehold Township in 1991.
Scotty was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean War.
He was an electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 40 years retiring in 1994.
While living in Illinois, Scotty worked as an electrician at the University of Illinois. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold where he served as a deacon, head usher and on the building and grounds committee.
Scotty was a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center in the information center.
Frederick was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor Scott, in 2013; three brothers, Paul, Robert and James Scott; and a sister, Charlotte VanDyke.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberley Lanouette and her husband, Roger, Pennington, N. J., and Venessa Rittman and her husband, Scott, Mountainside, N.J.; a son; 10 grandchildren, Meghan, Katie, Megan, Matt, Michelle, Trevor, Drew, Laine, Brittany and Conor; a brother, George Scott, Connecticut; three sisters, Charlene Diggs, Mississippi, Nancy Weidner, Illinois and Lucille Gray, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, route 524, Freehold Township, with his funeral service to follow at 8:30 p.m. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Arneytown.
