Gladys Emily Schlier, former resident of Kingston, and of Buckingham Springs, New Hope, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Chandler Hall Friends Nursing Home in Newtown, Pa. She was 82.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Sue Davis.
Gladys was a graduate of GAR High School and the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She became a registered nurse in 1952. Her nursing career started at the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital and ended with her working as a private-duty nurse, taking care of the elderly in their homes. Her life was defined by the care and love she showed to her family, neighbors and patients. She will be sorely missed.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. Her kitchen was filled with cookies during the holidays.
Preceding Gladys in death were her husband of 59 years, Gordon R. Schlier; her sister, Ethel Jeckell; and her brother, Lewis Davis.
Gladys is survived by sons, Allan Schlier and his wife, Karen, Pipersville, Pa.; Brian Schlier and his wife, Dorothy, Newtown, Conn.; granddaughters, Cynthia Schlier, Monroe, Conn.; Jessica Anderson and her husband, Russell, Newtown, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Theodore and Emily Anderson.
