Helen F. Lukowski

NANTICOKE — Helen F. Lukowski, 90, a longtime resident of East Green Street, Nanticoke, passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, under the care of Celtic Hospice at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. She had been a resident of Birchwood Nursing Center since December.

Born on April 14, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Sophie Wrona Jachimczak. She was educated in the Nanticoke schools and, earlier in life, had worked in the garment industry. Prior to retiring, she was last employed at RCA Corp., Mountain Top, for more than 20 years.

Helen was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke, and had been a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Church. She was also a member of the RCA Nipper Club for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward V. Lukowski, on Sept. 19, 2000; sisters, Mary Jachimczak and Stephania Dudrick; and brothers, Stanley Jachimczak and Edward Janison.

Surviving are her son, Edward J.Lukowski and his wife, Barbara, Nanticoke; three grandchildren, Edward J. Lukowski Jr. and his wife, Wendy, Larissa Dawson and her husband, Corey, and Jared Lukowski and his companion, Karie Yefko; six great-grandchildren, Edward J. Lukowski III, Amiah Lukowski, Sophia Lukowski, Scarlett Lukowski and Ty and Luke Dawson; sisters, Laura Kruczek, Alden Station and Henrietta Kellar and her husband, Henry, Nanticoke; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. in St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, primary site, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. James R. Nash as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Sheatown. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
