PLAINS TWP. — Helen "Ellen" J. Homza, 89, formerly of Larksville, died Friday, June 13, 2014, in Golden Living Center East Mountain, Plains Township.
She was born in Edwardsville, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Patsenka Tomasura. Helen worked at numerous dress factories in the valley until her retirement.
She was an active member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.
She had a true love and devotion for her lifelong partner, her husband of 67 years, Michael Homza.
Helen loved celebrating her ethnic traditions, traveling with her two best friends, shopping, casinos and baking. Most of all she could always be found supporting and attending all of her grandchildren's many events, they were her pride and joy. She will always be remembered for her wittiness, elegance and class.
Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Tomasura and Catherine Petroski.
Besides her husband, Michael, she is survived by her son, Michael Homza and his wife, Mary, Edwardsville; daughter, Diane Noon and her husband, Joseph, Shavertown; grandchildren, Joseph J. Noon III, Jennifer Noon, Michael Thomas Homza and Joseph Michael Homza; great-grandchildren, James Padrig, Claire and Emma; brother, Joseph Tomasura, Edwardsville; nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Kingston. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Edwardsville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Panachida will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday.
