NANTICOKE — Henry C. Novak, 90, of East Grand Street, Nanticoke, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Kingston Health & Hospice Center.
He was born in Nanticoke on March 9, 1924, and was a son of the late John and Anna Novak. Henry was a lifelong resident of Nanticoke and was married to the former Anna Obaza Novak, who preceded him in death. He also attended Nanticoke schools.
Henry was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the American Legion Post 971, Wanamie. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Kanar Inc., Wilkes-Barre, and Retreat State Hospital as a painter in the maintenance department.
In addition to his wife, Henry was preceded in death by sons, Walter and Raymond Novak; a longtime companion, Celia O'Rourke; sisters, Amelia Siarkowski and Eleanor Halchak; brothers, Edward, Stanley, Leo and Joseph Novak.
He is survived by a daughter, Sherry Molner, Shavertown; sister-in-law, Loretta Novak, Nanticoke; nieces, Dolores Dietl, Kingston, New York; Diane Rybak, Nanticoke; nephews, Richard Novak, Nanticoke; Leo Novak, Hanover Township; great-nephews, Ryan and Kevin Novak, Nanticoke.
Interment will be held in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Nanticoke.
Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
