OLD FORGE — Johanna Maria Mirro, 96, of Old Forge and formerly of Pittston, died Friday, May 9, 2014, in the Allied Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard John Mirro. The couple were united in marriage on July 20, 1946.
Born in Old Forge, a daughter of the late Calogero and Rose Gannaci Rizzo, she was a 1936 graduate of Old Forge High School. Before retirement, Johanna was employed in the garment industry.
What a glorious day… She entered into the kingdom of heaven to unite with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was "set free," absent from the body, present with the Lord! (2 Corinthians 5:8)
Her faithful, loving and giving spirit will be missed by all.
She was also preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her loving children, Angela Lee and her husband, Terry of Alpharetta, Georgia; Marilyn Chichilla and her husband, Tony, West Pittston; Jerry Mirro and his wife, Nancy, Pittston, and Debbie Thompson and her husband, Rick, Coral Springs, Florida; her grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Jason, Kristan, Jonathan and Jillian; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, Robert J. Gillette, Funeral Director, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge.
