John A. Marchlinski Sr.

John Alfred "Big John" Marchlinski Sr., 82, a retired first sergeant, passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, peacefully at home in Arlington, Texas.

John was married to Maria Ofenloch for 57 years. He retired from the United States Army after serving 23 years. In 1979, he moved to Arlington, where he began working as a machine operator at Martin Sprocket and Gear. He retired in 1995.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carl; his grandson, Justin Lee Brown; and his son-in-law, Michael Orrson.

He is survived by his wife, Maria E. Marchlinski; sons, John A. Marchlinski Jr. and wife, Absa, and James Marchlinski and wife, Heather; daughters, Rosemarie Bowes and husband, Paul J., Joann Orrson, Jean Davis and husband, Fred, and Nancy Brailsford; sisters, Rose Kowalski and husband, Edmund, Cecelia Bezdziecki, Elizabeth Hines and Marie Hrobak and husband, Leonard; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas. The family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, Lane C.
