John F. "J.L." Laskowski, age 76, of Mountain Top, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at the Hospice Community Care Geisinger, South Wilkes-Barre.
Born Nov. 9, 1936, in Larksville, he was a son of the late Charles and Stella Muchichko.
He was a graduate of Larksville High School, class of 1954, and a member of St. Jude's Church of Mountain Top.
In 1954, John joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also stationed in the United States, the Arctic Circle and the Far East, with two tours in Japan and in Vietnam. He retired honorably from the Air Force after 20 years of service.
Prior to his retirement, he was a manager in numerous Burger Kings, throughout the Wyoming Valley.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special fondness for his pet dog and companion, Buddy.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, the former Theresa Polifka; children, John D. Laskowski and his wife, Kathy of Larksville; Linda Moran and her husband, Joseph of Larksville; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Katelyn Laskowski, Joseph and Katie Moran; brother, Charles Muchichko and his wife, Mary Lou of Towanda; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to meet for Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude's Church, 420 South Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Hanover Township. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth.
