WEST WYOMING — John Halchak, 94, of West Wyoming, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
He was born in Taylor and was a graduate of Taylor High School. John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a longtime resident of West Wyoming and worked as a photo engraver for the former Barry Engraving, Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 1981.
John was a member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Edwardsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rose Juse; and grandson Brian Suter.
Surviving are daughters, Beverly Halchak, Wayne, Pennsylvania; Marie Suter and her husband, Greg, Mechanicsburg; Christine Harrell and her husband, William, Herndon, Virginia; grandchildren, Phillip Suter, Andrew Harrell, Casey Harrell, Hannah Harrell; brother, Steve Haluschak, Duryea.
A funeral divine liturgy service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 70 Zerby Ave., Edwardsville. The Rev. Paul Wolensky will officiate. Interment will be made in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Harold C. Snowdon Home for Funerals Inc., 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vladimir's Mortgage Fund, 70 Zerby Ave., Edwardsville, PA 18704.
