Joseph A. Novak

WILKES-BARRE — Joseph A. Novak, 94, formerly of Luzerne, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Kingston, a son of the late John and Anna Miklish Novak.

He attended Pringle High School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Sordoni Construction for 30 years. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council No. 3987, Luzerne, and Forth Degree Our Lady of Czestochowa.

He was known to relatives and friends as "Uncle Joe."

He was preceded in death by his wife the former, Nellie Yearuseavich; brothers, George, John, Peter, Michael Novak; sisters, Martha Piazza, Mary Novak, Anna Jacolik, Helen Mollusky.

He is survived by nephew, Jim Novak, who regularly visited him at Riverstreet Manor; nieces, Marcella Mulhern, Frances Mollusky; and other nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Recitation of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Sunday by the Knights of Columbus.
