Joseph D. Lane

Joseph D. Lane, 86, a resident of Bonham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Stillwater, and formerly of Town Hill, died Monday evening, Nov. 26, 2012. He was born in Shickshinny, a son of the late Joseph and Alice (Brown) Lane.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and worked for Procter & Gamble before retiring. He loved the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. He loved traveling and did missionary work in Africa, Haiti and Honduras. Joseph attended Calvary Bible Chapel in Muhlenburg.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Jo Lane; brother Delbert; and sister, Shirley Shaffer.

He is survived by his wife, the former Georganne Stookey, originally of Huntington Mills, the couple observed their 63rd wedding anniversary on May 17, 2012.

He is also survived by daughter, Dr. Judy Lane Littleton, Colo.; son, Jeffrey, and wife Laura, Town Hill; three grandchildren, Jennifer Harvey and husband Kevin, Benjamin and wife Kimberly, Steven and fiancé Jennifer Reynolds; two great-granddaughters, Brooke and Kelly Harvey; a brother, Roger Lane, Shickshinny; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military honors will be held Dec. 8, 2012 with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. at Calvary Bible Chapel in Muhlenburg, with the Rev. Neil Martin officiating.
