SHAVERTOWN — Lawrence "Larry" J. Storz, 75, of Shavertown, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Arden Courts, King of Prussia, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre to Gerald and Rose Kindler Storz on Sept. 4, 1938, Larry was raised in Luzerne and resided most of his adult life in Shavertown.
After graduating from Luzerne High School in 1957, Larry served as a specialist in the U.S. Army. Stationed in Korea, he was assigned to the mechanical support team to service the Nike Hercules missiles.
Larry was employed by Benco Dental, Wilkes-Barre, as an equipment technician for 35 years. He retired in 2000.
He was a devoted husband and father, a vintage car enthusiast and lifelong New York Yankees fan.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were brothers, Gerald and John Storz; and sisters, Rosemary Storz, Dolores Monahan and Regina Franklin.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Maryann Reino, Shavertown; daughter, Gina Marie Rodgers and her husband, Justin, Coatesville; grandson, Arlo J. Rodgers, Coatesville; brothers Carl Storz, Kingston; Philip Storz, Plains Township; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Therese's Church, Pioneer Avenue and Davis Street, Shavertown. Interment will be made in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be utilized for the planting of lilac trees at Arden Courts in Larry's memory. Donations may be sent to Maryann Storz, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, PA 18708.
