Leonard J. Thresten, 72, Plymouth, passed into eternal rest on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the Hershey Medical Center.
Born June 28, 1940 in Plymouth, he was a son of the late Leonard and Mary Thresten.
He was a member of All Saints Parish of Plymouth. Leonard was a graduate of St. Vincent's High School, class of 1958, and graduated from King's College, with a bachelor of arts degree in history and teaching. While he attended St. Vincent's High School, he played on the school basketball team, winning the Pennsylvania State Championship in 1957. He was employed as a teacher at Lake-Lehman High School and Crestwood High School for 30 years. He also was men's basketball coach for many years at Crestwood and was selected as Coach of the Year. Leonard greatly enjoyed fishing in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and attended numerous games at South Bend. Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Bamrick; children, Paul S. Thresten, Greentown, Pa., and Tara Ritts and her husband, Paul, Harveys Lake; sister, Mariclaire Thresten, Dallas.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 at All Saints Parish, 66 Willow St., Plymouth. Private interment will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Larksville. Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth.
