Marilyn B. Davis, 74, of Shavertown, Jackson Township, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Feb. 14, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Feb. 1, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre, Marilyn was a daughter of the late S. Kenneth and M. Beatrice Frantz Barber. She was a graduate of E. L. Meyers High School, class of 1956.
Marilyn previously was employed by the former Fowler, Dick and Walker, The Boston Store and later by Leader East Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston, as a nursing aide supervisor. Marilyn retired in 2002 from Commonwealth Telephone Co., where she worked as a customer service representative.
Her greatest joy was her family and her home life. She was a constant provider of love, pride and encouragement. Marilyn enjoyed her New York Yankees and Philadelphia Eagles. She had a love for all animals, especially her Rottweiler, Cody. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She was a member of Huntsville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, James J. Davis, Shavertown; three sons, James S. Davis, her caregiver with whom she resided, Shavertown; Scott A. Davis, Wilkes-Barre, and Richard Davis and wife, Maria, Olyphant; grandchildren, Alexia and Tristan Davis, Olyphant; brother, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth F. Barber, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
The Davis family thanks Marilyn's primary care physician, Dr. Edward Carey, Forty Fort; Dr. David Greenwald and all of the friendly and supportive staff of Medical Oncology Associates, Kingston; and the caring and compassionate nurses and aides who kept Marilyn comfortable in her last days from Home Health Care Professionals and Hospice, Archbald, which is owned by Marilyn's son, Richard, and daughter-in-law, Maria.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of family. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the animal shelter of the donor's choice.
