KINGSTON — Ruth C. Dugan, age 97, of Kingston, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Lehman, Ruth was the daughter of the late James and Ruth Elston Corbett. She was a graduate of Kingston High School and the Wyoming Seminary School of Business. Ruth's early employment included the former Duplan Manor Silk Mill and Luzerne County Voter Registration. She worked for many years until her retirement at the former Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources as an Office Manager. Ruth was a hospice volunteer for many years and a member of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, Kingston, and its Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and loved to dance.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband John C. Dugan; her son, Patrick; and sister, Hilda Brenner.
Surviving are sons, Charles J. Dugan and wife, Ann, Kingston; James J. Dugan and wife, Leslie, Hanover, Pa.; sister, Margaret Corbett, Kingston; step-grandson, Noah Kelley and his wife, Lois; step great-grandchildren, Abigail, Isaiah and Ezra Kelley, all of Wake Forest, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Harold C. Snowdon Home for Funerals, Inc., 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston. Interment will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A traditional Irish Wake will follow from 9 p.m. to midnight at Dugan's Pub, 385 Main St., Luzerne.
