Sylvia Mary Russick, 79, formerly of Duryea, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 11, in Hospice of the VNA, Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born in Scranton on Dec. 17, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Edna Cieslak Satulla.
She was a graduate of Moosic High School, class of 1950. She had been employed in the local garment industry and was a member of the ILGWU. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.
She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Russick; son, John Russick Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Michele Russick.
Surviving are her children, Susan Swoboda and her husband, Joseph, Florida; Cathy Champi and her husband, Jerry, Laflin; Christine Russick, Duryea; Gary Russick, Old Boston, and Cynthia Mattie, Montrose; 16 grandchildren; a brother, Stephen Satulla, Duryea; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
