Terrence Reilly

HANOVER TWP. — Terry Reilly, of Hanover Township, died Thursday evening, March 27, 2014, with loving family at his side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 18, 1925, he was a son of the late Terrence F. and Regina Stook Reilly and was a graduate of Meyers High School. He was a proud member of our greatest generation, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in Normandy and was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars and the World War II Victory Medal.

Terry was employed for Owens Illinois prior to his retirement. He was a lifetime member of St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre, and a member of the American Legion, Lee Park.

He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Rita Mary, in 1964; and sister, Regina Hester.

Terry is survived by his loving wife, Rita Gluchowski, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage in June 2013; three daughters, Susan Johnson and her husband, Martin, Westminster, Md., Judy McCarroll and her husband, Todd, Lehman, Patricia, at home; sister, Helen Kundrat, New Providence, N.J.; grandchildren, Aubrey and Connor Cunningham, Maryland, Breanna Cunningham, California, Nicholas, Andrew and Will McCarroll, Lehman; great-grandchildren, Madison and Hannah, Maryland; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Terry's family thanks the Department of Veterans Affair Home-Based Primary Care Team, Dr. Marie Adajar, Associated Family Care Service and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness, care and compassion.

Funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Lehman Family Funeral Service Inc., 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, St. Aloysius Church, corner of Division and Barney streets, Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Arbogaste Satoun will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday or 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be conducted in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
