SCRANTON — Thelma Witkowski, 92, of Scranton, died Monday morning, June 9, 2014, at home. She was the wife of Ruben Witkowski.
Born in Hazleton, daughter of the late Isaac and Florence Mullin Singer, she was a graduate of Hazleton High School and went on to attend Penn State University. She was a member of Machzikeh Hadas and its sisterhood, as well as B'nai Brith Women, a life member of Hadassah and an avid supporter of Camp Ramah.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading and whose true joy was her family.
Surviving are a son, Isaac Witkowski, and his wife, Susan, Omaha, Nebraska; daughters, Florence Dmitrovsky and her husband, Ethan, Houston, and Annie Fierman and her husband Daniel, Kingston; grandchildren, Zoe and Adam Donnell; Tess, Sarah and Jacob Dmitrovsky; Lily, Rose, William and Norah Fierman, and Gabrielle and Julian Witkowsky; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Mordechai Fine. Friends will be received during Shiva 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the family residence, 725 N. Webster Ave., Scranton, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the residence of her daughter, Annie Fierman, 155 Butler St., Kingston.
