Walter Kolesa Sr., 80, of Luzerne, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Joseph and Bertha Podgorski Kolesa. Prior to retirement, he was self-employed as Walts Widow Cleaning Service. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Chester, Henry, Joseph, John; and sister, Sophie Kolesa.
He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Olenik; children, Marie Kolesa, Luzerne; Walter Kolesa Jr. and his wife, Jayne, West Wyoming; and David Kolesa, Luzerne; grandsons, Brian and Keith; and his little pet dog, Toni.
The family thanks Commonwealth Home Service & Hospice for their care and gives many thanks to the staff and nurses of Riverstreet Manor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. There will be no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne.
