DALLAS — Willard Jason Race Sr., "Bill," 80, a life-long resident of Dallas, passed on to his eternal home on Jan. 25, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Joan Davis Race.
Bill graduated from Dallas Township High School, proudly ran the family dairy/produce farm in Dallas for most of his life and was the Franklin Township roadmaster. He was a man of great faith, was committed to his church and family, was an avid hunter, master gardener and was a faithful fan of the athletic events of his son, grandchildren and great-grandson.
He was a member of the Centermoreland United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mae Shotwell Race; brother, Russell Race; sisters Pauline Smith, Alberta Cook and Beatrice Gallagher; son-in-law, David James; and granddaughter Megan James.
Surviving are daughter, Debra James; son, Willard Race "Bill" Jr. and his wife, Sandra; grandchildren Kristyn Ecenrode and her husband, Shane; Willard "Jason" Race III and his wife, Tori, and Michael Race and his wife, Natalie; precious great-grandchildren, Brady and Camryn Ecenrode; sisters Betty Sweppenheiser, Barbara Prebola and Dorothy Roberts.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and church family.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Centermoreland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nancy Lycett officiating. Interment will be in Marsh Cemetery, Centermoreland. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.
