MOUNTAIN TOP — Irene J. Dombroski, 83, formerly of Mountain Top, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the Thorwald Home, Carlisle.
She was born in Alden on July 5, 1934, and was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Tiletski) Kellar, of Alden.
Irene graduated from Newport High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her RN diploma. Her first job as a registered nurse was at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. After years devoted to raising her family, she returned to work at Smith Nursing Home in Mountain Top, finishing her career working as a home health care nurse.
She was an active member of St. Jude's Church, and volunteered her time freely. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered her time with the Association for the Blind, administering eye screenings at kindergarten registrations.
Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob, in 2014; brothers, Alexander, Walter and Edmund; and sisters, Blanche Kellar, Helen Kielar, Mary Kowalski, Leona Farrell and Alfreda Perch.
Surviving are children, Mary Ann Edwards, of Easton; Janice and Mark Pfeiffer, of Philadelphia; and Robert and Michele Dombroski, of Carlisle; siblings, Henry, of Nanticoke; sisters, Celia Zukoski, of Pottsville; and Emily Kellar, of Wilkes-Barre; and grandchildren, Anthony, Matt, Hannah, Sam, Jake, Charlie, Casey, Madeline and Kate; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Jude's Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association.
