MOUNTAIN TOP — Danielle Cavanaugh, 45, of Mountain Top, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at her home. Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 22, 1970, she was the daughter of Patricia (Kruzlik) Olex and the late Thomas P. Olex.
She was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School and Luzerne County Community College with a degree in commercial art. After spending 20 years in the printing industry in various capacities, she spent the last seven years as a showroom manager at Rebath Northeast, Forty-Fort.
Danielle was a member of St. Jude Parish, Mountain Top. She loved being with family and friends and dedicated much of her time to helping others. She actively participated in the Susan G. Komen – Race For The Cure for a number of years and helped organize and lead the Think Pink team for Relay For Life, raising awareness and funding for The American Cancer Society. Danielle's endless drive, strength and selfless attitude then led her to organize and start the Think Pink Foundation of Mountain Top. Her vision was to offer relief and support to local families during their fight against cancer. Danielle has been an inspiration to us all and has shown us how to be strong in the face of our own challenges or struggle.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, Patricia, is her loving husband of 21 years, Thomas Cavanaugh; daughters, Morgan and Jaclyn Cavanaugh; sisters, Michelle Casey and Melissa Bigelow; brother, Thomas Olex and his wife, Amy; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Jude Parish, Mountain Top. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Danielle's memory to the Think Pink Foundation of Mountain Top (www.thinkpinkmountaintop.org) or to the Medical Oncology Prescription Fund, 382 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704.
