George Weitz Obituary
George Weitz, of Bear Creek, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010, at this home. He was born in Hughestown, August 19, 1933, a son of the late William F. Sr. and Lydia Cross Weitz. He graduated from Hughestown High School. George was self-employed for many years in the construction business, and for the past 40 years, along with his wife Ida, managed the Ida Weitz Personal Care Home, Meadow Run Road, Bear Creek. His family attended the Messiah Primitive Methodist Church, Bear Creek. George was preceded in death by his daughter, Ida Pearl Appel, in 2008; brothers, William Weitz Sr., John Henry and Paul Arthur Weitz; and sisters, Margaret Eddy and Norma Fleming. Surviving are his wife Ida Weitz; sons, George H. Weitz and Edward William Weitz; daughter, Jennifer Mayhue; brother Robert Allan Weitz; sister Lydia Boughner; as well as nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Mount Zion Cemetery, Mount Zion. Arrangements are by the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston.
