PLYMOUTH — Albert M. Romanick, 86, of Plymouth, passed away on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013.
Born Sept. 11, 1927, in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Mary E. Brozena Romanick Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Plymouth borough, other than the time he was deployed during his military service.
Albert was a member of All Saints Parish, Plymouth. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1945, and attended Wilkes College, Sophia University, of Tokyo, Japan, and the University of Maryland. He was also a graduate of the United States Armed Forces Staff College, of Norfolk, Virginia.
After he graduated high school, he entered the United States Air Force in 1946, and served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. After 24 years of military service, he retired from the Air Force in 1969 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He later was employed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, as a store manager, until 1987.
Albert was a member of the Plains American Legion, Post 558, a life member of the V.F.W., Post 283 and the D.A.V., Chapter 102, of Kingston, and the Retired Officers Association.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen M. Romanick; and brother, Leonard J. Romanick.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Helen L. Shevock; daughters, Anne E. Romanick, of Plymouth, and Dr. Mary R. Lanza and her husband, Dr. Mario A. Lanza, of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Joseph J. Romanick Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Dayton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the S.J.Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow St., Plymouth. Interment will be in St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth Township.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
