SCRANTON — Bruce Harvey, 63, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at home after a lengthy illness. He and his wife, the former Jenyne Engle McHale, celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Jan. 23.

He was born in Scranton, a son of the late John Ted and Doris Jordan Harvey. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and received an associate's degree in business administration from Lackawanna College.

He attended Our Father's House and was a Vietnam veteran, having served with the U.S. Army 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was a member of the American Legion, Friends of the Forgotten, the Wingnuts of Florida, the Fireman's Good Will Club and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 60.

Prior to retirement, he served as a member of the Scranton Fire Department .

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed.

He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed playing poker, hunting, golfing, dancing and karaoke. He enjoyed a practical joke and had a great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Harvey.

Also surviving are a son, Jason Harvey and his wife, Danielle, Scranton; a daughter, Christine Harvey, Scranton; two grandchildren, Joshua Brian Harvey and Owen Joseph Harvey, both of Scranton; brothers and sisters, Gail McDermott and her husband Clem, Illinois, Teddy Harvey and his wife, Connie, Moosic, Linda Ace and her husband, Robert, Lake Ariel, Don Harvey and his wife, Nancy, Old Forge, Janice Puchalski and her husband, Bill, Avoca; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Bob Walls, pastor of Our Father's House. Entombment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
