DALLAS — Eleanor Simonson Mullery, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Dallas, on April 3, 2014. She was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Wilkes-Barre. She was a graduate of St. Ann's Academy and the Wilkes-Barre Business College.

Eleanor was the owner of Simonson's Plaza in West Pittston and operated it over five consecutive decades.

While raising four boys and managing a restaurant, she found time to be a member of many charitable organizations. She was a past president of the Jacqueline's Society and held many leadership positions in the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, PTA, Moose Club, Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce and the Little League Auxiliary.

Over the years she was a member of numerous churches, including the Immaculate Conception and St. Therese in Shavertown.

Her love of her children and their extracurricular sporting activities, made her the number one sports fan in Wyoming Valley. There wasn't a game in over 24 years that her boys participated that wasn't missed; from Little League Baseball to high school sports to collegiate sports.

From young to old, Eleanor touched many with her wit and engaging personality. Those who met her will remember her forever.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas, who passed in 1979; her second husband, Jack Mullery; her parents, Michael and Maude Loughney; and her brothers, James and William Loughney.

She is survived by her four loving sons, Thomas, William, Robert and James; as well as six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews; and countless friends - friends -friends.

Viewing services will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Recupero's Funeral Home in West Pittston. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Therese Church, Shavertown.

Following the service, the family would like to invite all friends to lunch at Huntsville Country Club, 1334 Market St., Dallas; 570-674-3673.
