DRUMS — Gerald E. "Jerry" Klick, 69, of Drums, passed away Wednesday morning, April 16, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness.
Born in Harleigh on Oct. 26, 1944, he was a son of the late Walter and Bertha Ruth (Fisher) Klick Sr. He spent most of his life in Drums.
Jerry was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Johns, where he served as an usher, Sunday school teacher and member of the church council. He worked as a self-employed general contractor. He had also previously worked at General Foam, Haulmark and KME, and as a Butler Township police officer.
Jerry was a longtime flagman for Evergreen Raceway, St. Johns, and had also been a stock car driver at the track. He was a member of the Hazleton Slovak Club, 8B's Outdoor Club and the Butler Township Fire Company. He also enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by brothers, Robert Sr. and William; and a sister, Ruth Schwalm.
Surviving are his wife of the past 49 years, the former Dawn Alhbrandt; three daughters, Dawn Marie Floyd and her husband, Donald, Drums; Jeri Lee "Chico" Klick, Hazle Township, and Sheri Lyn Klick, Hazleton; six grandchildren, April, DJ, Kaitlyn, Brooke Lynn, CJ and Amanda; a great-grandchild due in September; three brothers, Walter Jr., Florida; Joseph, Drums, and Paul and his wife, Gloria, Hazleton; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Burial will follow in St. Johns Lutheran and UCC Cemetery, St. Johns. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
