TUNKHANNOCK — Joanne Doty, 64, of Tunkhannock, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Oct. 14, 2013, at home with her husband and twin daughters by her side.
Joanne was born in Nesquehoning on March 14, 1949, a daughter of the late Frank and Marie Lengyel. She was a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School. Prior to her illness, she was employed at the United Methodist Homes of Tunkhannock.
Surviving are her husband of 30 years, W. John; twin daughters, Jennifer and Jessica Doty, Tunkhannock; son, Gary Hackling, Tunkhannock; stepchildren, Jason Doty and his wife, Cindy, Thorton, Colo., and Amanda Randolph and her husband, Martin, Erie, Colo.; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Bullock, Tunkhannock; brother-in-Law, Russell Bullock, Tunkhannock; nieces and nephews.
Joanne enjoyed gardening, bird watching, shopping and going to craft shows and car cruises. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, friends and pets. She was very feisty and had a great sense of humor, always making people laugh. Joanne was a very courageous woman throughout her long battle with breast cancer. She was a loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed today, tomorrow, always.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Nulton-Kopcza Funeral Home, 5749 State Route 309, Beaumont, Monroe Township, with Lori Robinson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call 5 p.m. until the time of memorial service Thursday at the funeral home, and from the time of service to 7 p.m.
