LANCASTER, Calif. — John "Jack" J. Rinkus Jr., 78, of Lancaster, Calif, formally of Avoca, died Dec. 28, 2013, at the Antelope Valley Hospital, Lancaster. He was born in N.Y. on Feb. 6, 1936, and was a son of the late John Sr. and Helen Dixon Rinkus.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Healey) Rinkus, who passed away Dec. 9th 2011, and his son Michael A Rinkus.
Jack is survived by his son John J. Rinkus III, Lancaster; daughter, Lisa A. Hogarth, Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Delores Perry, West Pittston; Marion Shandra, Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Jan. 14, 2014, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lancaster. Interment services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St.. Duryea. AMVETS Honor Guard of Dupont will provide military honors.
