MONROE TWP., N.J. — Michael J. Novis Sr. passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, N.J., surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was 79 years old.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he lived in Edison, N.J., for 32 years and Laceyville before recently moving to Monroe Township, N.J.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for two years in Korea.
Prior to retirement, he was a purchasing agent for many years for Elkay Industries, Manhattan, N.Y.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Miklich, Luzerne.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Della Pisaneschi Novis; their children, Michael J. Novis Jr. and his spouse, Denise, Phillipsburg, N.J., Matthew Novis, Honesdale, Lynn Witrock and her spouse, Howard, Monmouth Junction, N.J., Lori Novis-Hanselman and her spouse, Fred, Culebra, Puerto Rico, Patricia Kramer and her spouse, Norman, Bethlehem; his siblings, Mark Miklich, Syracuse, N.Y., Martin Miklich, Wilkes-Barre, Margaret Martin, Luzerne; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 12 in St. Joachim Church, Sterling Street, Meshoppen.
