HANOVER TWP. - Norman L. Kirkpatrick Sr., of Taft Street, Hanover Township, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born April 26, 1929, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Harry and Laura Eicke Kirkpatrick. He attended Meyers High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a medic.

He was employed by Nelson Mfg., Kingston, and was a member of the Parish of Robert Bellarmine, St. Aloysius Church, where he served as usher and was active in the Holy Name Society, the 300 Club and the yearly bazaar. He was active as Judge of Elections in District 1, Ward 7, Lee Park, Hanover Township. He also served for many years as a Lee Park volunteer fireman and was instrumental in the formation of the Lee Park Little League. He was an avid bowler for many years.

He and his wife, the former Mary Uzdilla, celebrated 58 years of marriage on Sept. 17, 2013.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Howard and Joseph; and sister Mrytle.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Norman Jr., and his wife, Suzette Kirkpatrick, Tampa Fla.; daughter, Mary Jean, and her husband, Gino Warnick, Hanover Township; grandchildren, Cory and Reid Kirkpatrick, Gino and Justina Warnick; sisters Isabelle and her husband, Fred Martin, Hanover Township, and Laura Sokolovich, Chester, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. to time of service Saturday.
