TRUCKSVILLE — Richard Otto Sarmonis, 67, of Trucksville, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 27, 2014, at his home.
Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Otto and Lillian Sarmonis. Richard was a graduate of Lehman High School, attended Penn State University and attained a bachelor's degree in business from Wilkes University.
He was formerly employed by General Foods, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of the Boy Scouts of America and retired in 2008 from Leeward Construction.
Richard was a member of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his wife, the former Sandra Gayeski.
Surviving are his son, Shaun Sarmonis and his wife, Mary, Exeter; daughter, Dina Sarmonis, Dallas; grandchildren, Julia Evelyn Sarmonis, Wyatt and Sierra Teetsel; brother, Peter Sarmonis, Dallas; longtime friend, Susan Roese, Shavertown; her daughters, Kristen Angelicola, Amber Rogers, Tiffany Roese; stepdaughter, Lisa Gentile, Bayshore, New York; and 13 step-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am. Thursday in St. Therese's Church, Pioneer Avenue and Davis Street, Shavertown. The Rev. James J. Paisley will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
