Teofil (Ted) Zalinski, Sr., 91, passed away Saturday in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born April 16, 1922 in Warrior Run, he was the son of the late Alexander and Josephine Fosch Zalinski. He attended Meyers High School and Tennent High School. In 1940 Ted joined the U.S. Navy, serving 21 years, 17 of those years on destroyers, especially loving USS THE SULLIVANS. In five years he made Chief Petty Officer, always loving the Navy.
After retiring from the Navy in 1961, he worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot, retiring in 1984.
In 1947, Ted married Irene Kloss, who passed away in 1964. They had a son, Teofil, Jr., with whom he resided. He loved his Jack Russell, Suzy, and took her for rides in the car. He also loved gardening and planting flowers around the house.
He belonged to Fleet Reserves, American Legion and Amvets, Post 59.
Preceding him in death, besides his parents and wife, were brothers, Victor, Alexander and infant Walter, and a sister, Sophie.
Surviving are son, Teofil (Ted), Jr., Wilkes-Barre and daughter Theresa Ruscyk, Alden.
Ted's son would like to thank ICU and the CCU units at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for all they did for his Dad and also VAMC.

Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Straub Kane Funeral Home, 55 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. in St. Andrew's Church, Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
